Boulder Chamber and City Leaders Tackle Housing and Transportation at Boulder Startup Week

Boulder Startup Week is a five-day event that celebrates the city’s unique startup community. On May 17, Boulder Chamber CEO and President John Tayer facilitated a conversation on workforce housing and mobility. Panelists included Boulder Chamber staff Lori Call, Senior Director of Policy Programs and Andrea Meneghel, Director of Public Affairs, as well as City of Boulder representatives Kurt Firnhaber, Director of Housing and Human Services and Chris Hagelin, Senior Transportation Planner. Panelists discussed Boulder’s high housing costs and the link between limited housing and congested roads. Attendees brainstormed solutions to address the challenges, which included:
- Making it easier for people to add Accessory Dwelling Units
- Increasing mixed-use development
- Increasing multi-family options
- Increasing housing flexibility
- Gondola from Pearl Street to the Hill
- Front Range corridor rail
- Connections to Denver International Airport
- First and final mile shuttles
This was valuable input from our startup business community and we look forward to incorporating it into the mix of solutions that help sustain the vitality of our innovation economy.
