Boulder Chamber Advocates for Funding Transportation Improvements in the Northwest Region

Proposition CC ultimately obtained strong Boulder County support but failed statewide. However, a major milestone was achieved for the region through a CDOT award of significant funding to SH119/The Diagonal.

The Boulder Chamber spent a great deal of effort this year advocating for funding of transportation improvements that serve our workforce and residents in Boulder County. While we advocated for the passage of Proposition CC to retain state revenues for funding transportation projects, along with education, it passed decisively in Boulder County, but not across Colorado leaving us with a deficit for funding our transportation systems.

We joined with our colleagues in the Northwest Chamber Alliance in expressing support for funding projects in the Northwest region of Denver. In statements before the CDOT Transportation Commission (below), we made clear the importance of improving our region’s transportation system to maintain the economic vitality of our communities. We are pleased to report that the CDOT Commission heard our appeals, and along with our regional partners, the US 36 Mayors and Commissioners Coalition and Commuting Solutions, were successful in in our advocacy efforts to secure significant investments for both SH 7/East Arapahoe and SH 119/The Diagonal. Achieving this decision delivers more investments into our regional transportation corridors to improve mobility for our workforce!
