The Boulder Chamber is pleased to announce the promotion of Darcy Kitching to a new leadership role in its mobility policy and program activities: Transportation Connections Associate Executive Director and Business Outreach Manager. Previously, Kitching served as a transportation demand management outreach specialist, supporting Transportation Connections’ work with the City of Boulder, the Denver Regional Council of Governments, and local employers.
“As a well-known local advocate for alternative transportation options and workforce mobility, Darcy brings great vision, energy, and experience to her work at the Boulder Chamber,” said Boulder Chamber President and CEO John Tayer. “Darcy also offers valuable management assets which we are excited to elevate in her leadership on our Transportation Connections team.”
In her new role, Kitching joins the Boulder Chamber leadership team to develop innovative strategic initiatives associated with the Chamber’s transportation demand management, workforce mobility and transportation policy activities. Alongside Transportation Connections Executive Director Karen Worminghaus, Kitching will build on the organization’s successful local and regional partnerships and strengthen collaborations with Boulder employers to help ease traffic congestion, expand convenient mobility options and support the region’s greenhouse gas reduction goals.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Boulder Chamber’s leadership team,” said Kitching. “Transportation Connections serves a vital role in support of the Boulder region’s economic vitality and quality of life. I’m excited to partner with our Boulder Chamber policy advocacy, business services and economic vitality departments to ensure we are meeting our workforce transportation needs in new and creative ways.”
Before joining the Boulder Chamber, Kitching conducted community-based research on youth and family transportation in Boulder County and served as Boulder Community Director for the Walk2Connect Cooperative. She has master’s degrees in education and urban and regional planning and is a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado Denver. Kitching is an author and community leader – she wrote the 2020 trail guide, The Best Urban Hikes: Boulder; she guides the local Boulder Ramblers urban hiking community as a volunteer; and she serves on the City of Boulder’s Transportation Advisory Board.
