With the Boulder economy beginning to show renewed signs of life under the evolving Safer-at-Home orders, the final evening for the special illumination of the Boulder Star was Sunday, May 31. Though it’s traditionally an exclusive holiday season tradition, the Boulder Chamber relit the Boulder Star in late March in recognition of its power to help foster community resilience and hope for brighter days ahead during Boulder’s COVID-19 response.

“We recognize that COVID-19 and its impacts, both to public health and our economy, are still with us,” said John Tayer, Boulder Chamber President and CEO. “The transition to a Safer-at-Home order and the gradual reopening of many previously closed businesses, though, provides the opportunity for our community to begin the transition to finding strength and hope for our future through our personal interactions with business owners and each other.”

Over 70 Years of Tradition

2019 marks the 72nd Anniversary of the Boulder Star on Flagstaff Mountain! The beloved Boulder Star on Flagstaff Mountain was first lit in December 1947 and has made its holiday appearance every year since.

The Boulder Chamber is proud of its role as the steward of this community asset and thankful for the support it receives, through sales of the Boulder Star Card, Star Wine, and the generosity of other partners, to keep the Boulder Star shining bright.

The star has been turned off for the season - we'll see you in Fall 2020 for the next Star Lighting Festival!
