Over 70 Years of Tradition
2024 marks the 77th anniversary of the Boulder Star on Flagstaff Mountain. The beloved Boulder Star was first lit in December 1947 and has made its holiday appearance every year since.
The Boulder Chamber and the City of Boulder are the proud joint stewards of this community asset and are thankful for the support it receives through sales of the Boulder Star Card, Star Wine, and the generosity of other partners to keep the Boulder Star shining bright.

The 2024 Star Card design was created by local artist Kristen Ross. Kristen Ross is a landscape painter based in Boulder, Colorado. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design. Her work is exhibited in galleries across Colorado and is held in collections throughout the United States. Moved by the post-impressionist and expressionist movements’ treatment of light, color, and movement, Ross uses layers of vibrant color and linework to convey her impressions while preserving the realistic form of the landscape.
A portion of the Star Card proceeds go towards the ongoing care of the Boulder Star.
